‘Another day in paradise’: Trump jokes about FBI raid during Sarah Palin tele-rally

Former President Donald Trump referenced the FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago estate on Monday night during a tele-rally for Sarah Palin, telling the listeners it’s “another day in paradise.”

Trump revealed earlier Monday that FBI officers had “raided” his home in Palm Beach, Florida, claiming they “broke into [his] safe.”

FBI HAD BETTER HAVE A REALLY GOOD REASON FOR THIS RAID ON TRUMP

The raid appears to be related to boxes of materials he brought to Mar-a-Lago after leaving office. The National Archives and Records Administration said presidential records in 15 boxes obtained from Mar-a-Lago earlier this year included materials marked as classified national security information. The agency also noted that the Justice Department had been notified.

While making an appearance during the tele-rally for the former Alaska governor, who is running for Congress in the Natural State, he reportedly said: “This is a strange day — you probably all read about it, but very important.”

The raid prompted fury among Trump’s family and supporters.

Lara Trump, the wife of his son Eric, and his son Donald Trump Jr. took aim at the Justice Department, which is the parent agency of the FBI, saying the raid is “weaponizing the justice system.”

“They are terrified. He’s going to announce any day that he’s running for president in 2024,” Lara Trump told Fox News. “This is a very convenient way to just throw a little more mud on Donald Trump as though they haven’t already done enough.”

Donald Trump Jr. tweeted: “Biden’s out of control DOJ is ripping this country apart with how they’re openly targeting their political enemies. This is what you see happen in 3rd World Banana Republics!!!”

The phrase “banana republic” was a familiar refrain from Trump supporters and members of the Republican Party.

“The raid of MAL is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves. Now the Regime is getting another 87k IRS agents to wield against its adversaries? Banana Republic,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis tweeted.

The Justice Department has yet to comment on the raid.
