Columbus, Ohio, shooting leaves five teenagers injured and 16-year-old dead

A 16-year-old is dead and at least five other people are injured after shots were fired in Columbus, Ohio.

Police responded to a shooting call at the Bicentennial Park Amphitheater around 11:50 p.m. on Saturday night, where they found several people shot and injured.

Olivia Kurtz, 16, died around 1 a.m. on Sunday after being brought to a local hospital, while two other teenagers who were shot are currently recovering. Three 19-year-olds were also injured in the incident and are having gunshot wounds treated.

Some of those injured in the incident underwent emergency surgery, according to Columbus police. Two other people who suffered minor injuries tried to flee the scene.

Police have not identified a suspect or motive, according to WCMH of Columbus.

The incident occurred at a private event that was promoted on social media.

The shooting remains under investigation.

The Columbus shooting came shortly before a separate shooting less than three hours away at a Youngstown bar on Sunday morning that killed three people and injured several others.
