Rubio blasts Delta as 'woke corporate hypocrites' after CEO condemns Georgia voting law

Sen. Marco Rubio accused Delta Airlines of hypocrisy for its CEO calling Georgia’s new voting law “unacceptable” but remaining silent about accusations of genocide in China.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian sent a memo to employees that said the Georgia election bill, which was signed by Gov. Brian Kemp this month, was “does not match Delta’s values.”

Rubio demanded Bastion produce a letter condemning the situation in Xinjiang. “Delta Airlines are business partners with the Chinese communist party, the same Chinese communist party that is committing genocide against Uyghur Muslims inside of China,” he said in a video posted to Twitter.

The Atlanta-based company has touted its investments in China and openly declares itself as “the most Chinese-friendly U.S. airline” on its website.

“I look forward to that letter saying genocide does not reflect the values of Delta Airlines,” Rubio said. “Of course they’re not going to send that letter, nor is Coca-Cola, nor is any of these other corporations that are out there proving to the world how woke they because they are woke, corporate hypocrites.”

The Florida Republican said that Delta is making “billions of dollars in a country that doesn’t even have elections” and that “has no respect for anyone or anything.”

“But in America, they’re prepared to boycott a state and condemn them publicly to show and prove how woke they are. They’re hypocrites. Complete and total hypocrites,” he added.

Georgia was the first state to enact a voting reform bill after the 2020 presidential election. Lawsuits have been filed attempting to stop the implementation of the new law.
