Senator Pat Toomey has been reelected in Pennsylvania after a tight race with Democrat Katie McGinty, likely securing the Republican majority in the Senate.
Toomey narrowly beat McGinty with 48.8 percent of the vote to her 47.3 percent, with 98.7 of results returned. The AP called the race around 1 a.m. on Wednesday.
A number of other incumbent Republicans in tight, key races slid to victory Tuesday, including Wisconsin senator Ron Johnson and North Carolina senator Richard Burr. Florida senator Marco Rubio also held on to his seat, while Indiana elected a fresh face, Rep. Todd Young.
Republicans have been vying to defend their 54-46 Senate majority.
