With the balance of power in the U.S. Senate on the line, the campaign arm of the Senate Republicans launched its first ad of the runoff cycle on Thursday, painting Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock as a phony candidate who “belongs in Hollywood, not Washington.”
The 30-second ad not only calls Warnock “a great actor” but also attempts to link Warnock to President Joe Biden’s policies.
“Warnock is a great actor,” the narrator starts off. “He doesn’t just act like your senator. Spending, taxes, energy — you name it. Warnock votes with Joe Biden 96% of the time, and the act is getting old.”
Neither Warnock nor GOP rival Herschel Walker scored enough votes for an outright win. The two will meet in a Dec. 6 runoff election.
This marks Warnock’s second runoff. He won his first in 2021 against Trump-endorsed candidate Kelly Loeffler. His win, coupled with Sen. Jon Ossoff’s victory against former Sen. David Perdue, another Trump-endorsed candidate, helped give Democrats in the Senate a narrow majority. It’s one they are defending once again this year.

The four-week sprint to the runoff may attract another round of political heavyweights making their way to Georgia to stump for the candidates, including former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump.
