Warnock’s win fuels presidential buzz: Washington Photos of the Week

Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) secured reelection Tuesday in a decisive win over Republican Herschel Walker that firmed up Democrats’ Senate majority.

His 3-point victory in battleground Georgia sparked consideration that the charismatic pastor would be a strong future presidential contender for the Democrats. President Joe Biden has not yet formalized his 2024 plans.

Also at the Capitol, lawmakers hosted the Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony to honor the law enforcement officers who defended the Capitol during the Jan. 6 riot.

The House this week passed the Respect for Marriage Act to federally recognize same-sex marriage, with the help of 39 GOP lawmakers, sending the landmark legislation to Biden’s desk.

And nearby, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments over the case of a Christian designer from Colorado who says she cannot create websites for same-sex couples, citing her First Amendment free speech rights.

Here’s a look at scenes from Washington the week of Dec. 5, captured by Washington Examiner photographer Graeme Jennings.
