While the Senate was focused on discussing the Gang of Eight’s immigration reform plan, the Twitterverse instead focused on what tattoos the eight members of the group should get.
During the Senate’s discussion on the bill Monday, Gang of Eight member and Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) joked that he’s been involved in so many bipartisan “Capitol Hill” gangs to get legislation through Congress that “it might be time to get some tattoos.”
The Huffington Post’s Elise Foley quickly picked up on the statement and started the hashtag #gangof8tattoos on the social media site. Among some of the best tattoo suggestions were a rainbow border fence, a statue of liberty and a picture of Sens. Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) “inside a heart.”

The Gang of Eight’s plan creates a pathway to citizenship for approximately 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States and proposes significant improvement’s to the nation’s border security. The senate voted to open begin debating the legislation by a vote of 82-15 on Tuesday after it made it through markup in the Senate Judiciary Committee last month.
The eight member’s of the bipartisan group include Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.).
