Pete Hegseth softens military views in bid to lead Pentagon

Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to become secretary of defense, is smoothing over previous statements in which he suggested he was against women in combat and gays in the military.

The softer rhetoric comes as the former Fox News host and Army National Guard veteran has been meeting with female Republican senators who have registered concerns about his nomination.
