Video of Rev. Raphael Warnock accusing America of being ‘racist’ and ‘sexist’ surfaces

Video of Democratic Senate candidate Rev. Raphael Warnock accusing America of being a “racist” and “sexist” country has surfaced on social media.

“This country is every bit as sexist as it is racist,” Warnock can be heard saying during a sermon, which was posted on Twitter Wednesday.

Warnock is currently locked in a tight battle with incumbent Sen. Kelly Loeffler in Georgia’s special election runoff, which is set to take place on Jan. 5, with early voting starting on Monday.

Loeffler has painted Warnock’s views as “radical,” saying they fail to represent the voters in Georgia.

“I cannot stand by and let Georgians not know who my opponent is, how radical his views are, and how he would fundamentally change our country,” Loeffler said during a debate Sunday. “He’s out of step with Georgia’s values.”

Some of Warnock’s past comments have been used to paint him as radical since he launched his Senate bid, including a sermon he gave in 2011 regarding the military and religion. During that sermon, Warnock paraphrased Bible verse Matthew 6:24, which says, “No one can serve two masters.”

“America, nobody can serve God and the military,” Warnock said at the time. “You can’t serve God and money. You cannot serve God and mammon at the same time. America, choose ye this day who you will serve. Choose ye this day.”

Some of Warnock’s sermons about police have also been used by Loeffler to paint the reverend as anti-law enforcement.

Warnock’s race with Loeffler and another Georgia runoff pitting incumbent Sen. David Perdue against Democratic challenger Jon Ossoff will decide which party controls the U.S. Senate when the new Congress convenes in January.

Republicans currently hold a 50-48 advantage in the upper chamber, needing just one of the two Georgia runoffs to break their way to maintain the majority. Democrats could snatch the majority by winning both races, thanks to the tie-breaking vote of Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.

One of the nation’s most accurate pollsters in recent years, the Trafalgar Group, puts both races at a dead heat. According to its poll last week, Ossoff currently leads Perdue 48% to 47.3%, with just under 5% undecided. Meanwhile, Loeffler leads Warnock 50.2% to 45.3%, with 4.5% undecided.

Warnock’s campaign did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.
