House Speaker Paul Ryan, confident in the GOP’s upward path in recent weeks, is predicting that his side will keep the majority in the fall midterm elections, and said that Republicans are maturing into a “workhorse majority.”
Speaker to the moderate Republican Ripon Society, Ryan said, “I actually feel really good about our majority.”
He added, “If the election were held today, we would keep this majority.”
Ryan, who is retiring after this term, also talked up the experience of those coming to the House.
“We are getting more effective conservatives and more effective legislators,” Ryan said.
“We want people who are coming here to be effective, people who are coming here to be workhorses. I really believe that’s the kind of majority we are maturing into — a workhorse majority,” said Ryan.
