Former mistress endorses Petraeus for State

The former mistress and biographer of retired Gen. David Petraeus said the onetime CIA director deserves to be named President-elect Donald Trump’s secretary of State.

In an interview with “CBS This Morning” co-host Norah O’Donnell, Paula Broadwell said:

Former CIA Director Gen. Davis Petraeus, left, shakes hands with biographer Paula Broadwell, co-author of ‘All In: The Education of General David Petraeus’ on July 13, 2011.

“Norah, I think he’s unequally qualified for many positions.” She added, “As I woke up to the news, you know, it was a bit of a shocker that he was being considered for a Cabinet position, and I was — I was both shocked that I’m still in this tenuous position, and yet happy because I think he should be able to go on with his life. He’s earned it.”

However, Broadwell added that since being dubbed the other woman, she hasn’t been able to move on and into a big new job.

For example, Broadwell said that she lost a job with a prominent bank because of the affair, which forced Petraeus out at CIA and led to a conviction for trading secrets with her.

“I think I was qualified for this position. But I was told by the military recruiter that it would be front page news if I got hired at the bank, and the bank wouldn’t want to deal with that,” Broadwell said.
