House GOP goes local with new ‘Our America’ theme

House Republicans are introducing a new internet ad campaign with a Reaganesque, “This is our America” theme that plays up the party’s roots in business and pioneering far away from Washington and Congress.

Between now and Election Day, the National Republican Congressional Committee will release several ads on the internet, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter that fit with Mitt Romney’s “Believe in America” campaign to suggest that lessons learned locally and achievements outside of Washington can be used to change the politically divided city.

The new ads will feature House Republican incumbents and challengers who have backgrounds outside of politics, such as in small business. “Is time for leaders who don’t look to Washington for solutions. We’re ready to return to an America that works,” said the initial ad that debuted Monday.

Paul Lindsay, NRCC communications director, explained, “Americans elected a class of outsiders in 2010 with a diverse background in the private sector. This campaign will tell their story as well as introduce House Republican candidates from throughout the country who are holding Democrats accountable and are prepared to fight to preserve the American ideals that create jobs.”
