Ben Carson, the neurosurgeon who famously separated twins joined at the head before becoming a star on the anti-Obamacare stage, on Thursday kicked off a new campaign to offer alternatives to the president’s health care system, starting with the creation of robust health savings accounts.
“I’d like to see it gone, period,” he said of Obamacare. “But we can’t beat something with nothing — and going back to the status quo is not acceptable either. So today, we begin to lay out an alternative,” said Carson for the American Legacy PAC’s Save Our Healthcare campaign.
In a video provided in advance to Secrets, Carson said that he will offer five alternative solutions to Obamacare, leading with the health savings accounts. He said that tax-free accounts will help Americans cover most of their health care costs that insurance won’t, and he predicted that they could save Americans about $100,000 over their life.
The videos are also part of the group’s campaign to urge anti-Obamacare voters to toss out supporters of the program.
“Here’s the simple truth: The midterm elections are less than six months away, and we have the opportunity to elect a new class of reformers who can start the process of replacing Obamacare,” said Carson.
