Three new White House polls show that America likes President Trump’s crisis management, first with impeachment and now with the coronavirus.
In the polls, Trump’s approval rating for his handling of the pandemic is higher than his general approval rating, and one pollster said that could provide the president with an opening to improve his overall score.

The latest ABC News/Ipsos poll showed that Trump has shifted his fortune from a week ago and now has a 55% approval rating for his handling of the crisis, which this week saw several new actions and a renewed confidence that the federal government was in charge of the episode.
Said ABC: “In the new poll, 55% of Americans approve of the president’s management of the crisis, compared to 43% who disapprove. Trump’s approval on this issue is up from last week, when the numbers were nearly reversed.”
The latest Axios-Harris poll tracked similar numbers. Americans now give Trump a 56% approval rating for his handling of the virus, up from 51% last week.
And Emerson Polling showed that 49% approve of Trump’s job versus 41% who don’t.
All of those numbers are above his general approval rating.
Spencer Kimball, director of Emerson College Polling, said, “Voters appear to have a stronger approval for President Trump’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak than his general approval as president. This suggests during this crisis when voters are looking for strong leadership, the president has an opportunity to win over some of his opposition.”
Trump saw a similar trend after impeachment when he reached his highest approval rating since Inauguration Day.
