Disruptive and ‘smart’: Va. GOP leader’s new award

Virginia high-tech and social media whiz Pete Snyder has won another award, this one for his smarts, a timely recognition as he looks at a 2013 GOP bid for lieutenant governor.

“It’s always great to be in good company,” Snyder said of his inclusion in SmartCEO’s “Leaders we admire” Washington issue that also includes Washington Kastles owner Mark Ein and Goodwill’s Catherine Meloy. The magazine recognized Snyder for his entrepreneurial style in building New Media Strategies and recently Disruptor Capital which invests in start-up firms mostly in Virginia.

Snyder is currently head of the GOP Victory Committee which is raising money and organizing for Republican candidates from Mitt Romney to state delegates. He tells Secrets that Romney’s looking strong in Virginia, which President Obama won in 2008. He said the economy, unemployment, debt and gas prices are driving the election and those should help Romney. “Something seismic would have to happen to change that,” he said.

He has been recently talked about as a GOP lieutenant governor candidate and allies expect him to jump in after the fall election. In fact, some GOP insiders say he would be a good fit for either conservative Virginia Attorney Ken Cuccinelli or Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, both of whom are running for governor.
