Thanksgiving poll: Wealthiest say stop giving to the homeless, only creates more

America’s wealthiest say that best way to end begging is for people to stop giving beggars money, according to a new poll.

Some 47 percent of those earning over $100,000 agree that if people just stopped giving money the street people would stop begging, according to the latest YouGov poll. Just 31 percent said that eliminating donations would would make the beggars worse off.

Those earning $50,000-$100,000 also feel that way, though not as many. Some 39 percent said if people stopped giving money to panhandlers, they would stop, while 32 percent said they would be worse off.

The “bah humbug” poll also found that a third of the wealthiest blamed the homeless for their personal situation.
