The sudden death of AFL-CIO boss Richard Trumka, 72, had friends recalling that he had a childlike excitement about working in unions right up to the end.
When he reached 50 years of union work, back in 2018, he showed Secrets his service pin.

“That’s my 50-year pin right there. I got it two months ago,” he said.
- John Heubusch, who for 12 years headed the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute, is planning to move on at the end of the year. “It’s been the honor of my life to preserve and promote the legacy of Ronald Reagan with so many talented people at such a special place,” said Heubusch, long a friend of Secrets. Under Heubusch, the most visited presidential library and museum underwent a complete renovation and survived wildfires. He also set up the Reagan Institute in Washington, and he found time to write two bestselling novels. “I am just getting started,” he said.
- While we are on the subject of the Gipper, the Reagan Alumni Association is throwing a party on Aug. 12 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his historic tax cut package.
- Former top Trump adviser Stephen Miller spoke at last week’s Young America’s Foundation conference and asked the student activists how many want to work in the White House. Just five hands went up. “That’s why we keep losing to the Left,” he said in encouraging young conservatives to get into politics. “At this exact same conference on the political Left, every hand is going up for wanting to work in politics.”
