Democratic senators that back federal dollars flowing to Planned Parenthood are coming under fire from a major anti-abortion group and top conservative family organization that on Wednesday launched a digital ad campaign to block continued funding to the women’s health agency.
The Faith Family Freedom Fund, connected with the influential Family Research Council and its legislative arm, said that the first ad will target Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet, up for re-election next year.
“It is time for Congress to end the flow of your tax dollars to Planned Parenthood. Call Sen. Michael Bennet,” said the digital provided in advance to Secrets. “Stop funding Planned Parenthood with taxpayer dollars. Redirect those funds,” it adds.
Bennet recently voted to keep Planned Parenthood partially funded by tax dollars.
The effort, which is expected to be expanded into other states and against other Democrats, is meant to influence the upcoming Senate vote on Planned Parenthood funding, a decision that could lead to a government shutdown.
It also targets the recent stories and video of Planned Parenthood officials discussing the sale of body parts from aborted fetuses.
The Faith Family Freedom Fund ad plays at the heartstrings of voters by showing an ultrasound image as a small girl’s voice describes life in the womb and what can then happen in an abortion.
Child’s Voiceover:
At three weeks, my heart begins to beat.
At ten weeks, I can kick.At fourteen weeks, I can smile.
At twenty weeks, I can feel pain.
Even at twenty four weeks, Planned Parenthood can rip my body to pieces, and sell the parts.
‘And another boy!’
Female Voiceover:
It is time for Congress to end the flow of your tax dollars to Planned Parenthood.
Call Senator Michael Bennet at 202-224-3121.
Stop funding Planned Parenthood with taxpayer dollars.
Redirect those funds.
Full spectrum women’s health centers far outnumber Planned Parenthood clinics. There are more options for women than resorting to a scandal ridden organization.
