Mitch McConnell wins good wishes from Trump: ‘Be well’

Former President Donald Trump brushed aside his feud with Sen. Mitch McConnell on Thursday to express concern about the bad fall the Senate Republican leader took at a downtown Washington hotel Wednesday night.

“Be well,” he said of McConnell, 81, who reportedly suffered a concussion and remains in the hospital.

During a media discussion about his upcoming book, Letters to Trump, the former president conceded that the two don’t get along anymore but that it wouldn’t bleed into wishing McConnell well.

“I disagree with almost everything he does, but what I certainly would like him to do, I want him to be well. I want him to be well. Then get back and be strong,” said Trump.

“It sounds like he took quite a fall, and I hope he’s going to get better quite quickly,” he added.

The accident took place at Trump’s former hotel in Washington, renamed the Waldorf Astoria after that firm purchased it from Trump Inc.

During his presidency, McConnell was a close ally, especially when pushing through historic numbers of federal judges.

But after the election, the two split over the election integrity issue and especially after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riots.
