Washington Post building stripped of its name

The transformation of the fabled Washington Post finally hit home this week to hundreds of employees and even more Washingtonians when the paper’s name was yanked off the building it has been on since 1950.

Workers this week stood in the Post‘s entrance under the black lettering for final pictures, many posted to Twitter and Facebook.

The letters came down Tuesday. Today, the brick facing is bare. The lettering is scheduled to be put in the lobby at the new location, 1301 K St. NW.

The paper, recently purchased by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, is moving three blocks away to a building with other tenants, leaving behind a location made even more famous by the Watergate movie, “All the President’s Men.”
