Former Maricopa County, Ariz. Sheriff Joe Arpaio expressed gratitude and appreciation to President Trump amid reports the White House plans to pardon the lawman convicted two weeks ago on charges he targeted suspected undocumented immigrants.
“I didn’t ask for it, I appreciate his offer. And of course I will accept because I didn’t do anything wrong,” he told reporter Rita Cosby on NewsmaxTV.
“He’s going to do what he feels right,” added Arpaio.
Fox reported that the president is considering a pardon for the lawman who was among the first to back Trump’s presidential bid.
“I have great confidence and respect and love for the man,” said Arpaio who said he will fight the conviction “all the way to the Supreme Court.”
He added of Trump, “He’s a great person…I’ll be with him to the end.”
