Eager for a chance to defeat Mitt Romney again, a top Democrat with a wide social media network is building a campaign to woo the former Massachusetts governor into the 2016 race — exactly as many Republicans want.
“I have ‘endorsed’ Mitt Romney for president,” said former Democratic Party spokesman and American Bridge 21st Century President Brad Woodhouse said. “The idea seems to be gaining steam – if for no other reason than the fact that the rest of the field is mostly damaged goods,” he added.
He provided Secrets a video being spread via the anti-Republican group’s social media network that suggests that several other candidates, such as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Sen. Rand Paul and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, are so damaged that the nomination is Romney’s for the asking.
Woodhouse is having fun, but he’s also feeding many Republicans what they want. Multiple polls show Romney leading the 2016 primary race and his former running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, has suggested Romney take another shot.
In an emailed release, American Bridge said, “As more and more GOP-ers take the car elevator back to the Mitt Romney bandwagon, let it be known that he indeed has at least some crossover appeal — American Bridge’s own Brad Woodhouse has already endorsed his candidacy. Run, Mitt, run!”
