The lack of movement in the 2020 Democratic presidential nominating race is fast making it a four-person race, according to long-time pollster Scott Rasmussen.
Over the past two weeks, he has been polling the race and found little change in the standings of the top four and no success by the rest of the 19 to break through.
“This nomination contest may have become a four-person race,” Rasmussen said in a morning polling memo.
His current rankings are:
- Joe Biden, 33%.
- Sen. Bernie Sanders, 15%.
- Sen. Elizabeth Warren, 7%.
- Sen. Kamala Harris, 6%.
“These top four candidates are in the same order and generally the same position as in our previous two surveys. Data released earlier showed that more than 70% of Democrats would be satisfied with any of those hopefuls as their nominee,” he said.
Sanders, said Rasmussen, leads Biden 22% to 18% among voters under 35, while Biden grabs a majority of elderly voters.
Among just Democrats, Biden beats Sanders 34%-14%, though the gap is closer among “Democratic leaning independents,” 24%-20%.
