Team Hillary ‘anxious’ about poor fundraising, delays hiring, advertising

Despite having a huge cash on hand advantage over Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager on Wednesday expressed concern and anxiousness over poor fundraising by the Democrat.

“I have some slightly concerning news — our fundraising is still behind where we thought it would be for June,” said Robby Mook in a fundraising email.

He said that crummy fundraising has forced Clinton to hold off hiring and advertising. She has over $40 million on hand to Trump’s $1 million.

He said that Trump’s ability to lend his cash-poor campaign enough money to run in the fall “makes me even more anxious about the fact that we’re off course.”

In return for a “free” bumper sticker, he is seeking up to $500 from supporters.

His full email is here:

I have some slightly concerning news — our fundraising is still behind where we thought it would be for June.

So right now, we’re waiting to make some really important decisions (like when to bring on new staff, where to open which office, even how much advertising we should reserve for the fall) until we get some indication that we’re going to land in a good place before June 30th.

It’s worth pausing for a second to acknowledge that Trump hasn’t shown himself to be particularly good at fundraising. But as he likes to point out, he could loan his campaign millions and millions of dollars any moment he wants. In fact, as of yesterday morning, he’s pledged to match every dollar that a grassroots donor contributes for the next two days. And even without spending a bunch of money, he still manages to keep himself on television basically twenty-four hours a day.

Which makes me even more anxious about the fact that we’re off course.

Every single time we’ve leveled with you over the course of this campaign, you’ve stepped up. Every time we gave you the facts and told you why we needed you, you’ve helped us to correct course.

So that’s where we are, and this is me asking…

Can you chip in right now to help us raise the money we need in June? Make your first donation today, and we’ll send you a free sticker.

Thanks,

Robby
