Migrant trash forces border agents into garbage collection

Add garbage collection to the growing nonlaw enforcement roles for border agents and local officials facing a historic surge of illegal immigration unanswered by President Joe Biden’s administration.

The officials, who requested anonymity, said the truckloads of trash were left by human smugglers and those they were bringing across the border.

One federal official said, “Unless you are there, you cannot imagine the gravity of trash on site.”

Another told Secrets after cleaning piles of garbage, “The pictures don’t fully show the impact we see in person. However, the team did an outstanding job in getting it all loaded and hauled.”

As the border crisis has grown, border agents have been forced to shift away from stopping illegal crossings to babysitting, feeding, and caring for thousands of migrants being held in federal facilities.

To get an idea of that job, consider reports that nearly 25,000 minors are now being held by the administration.
