NRA to Washington: ‘We don’t trust you, we don’t need you’

Adding its voice to outsiders like presidential candidates Donald Trump and Sen. Bernie Sanders who claim Washington is rigged, the NRA Wednesday charged in a new video that the elite media, politicians, Hollywood and business scheme to help themselves and decide “who gets protected, who goes to prison.”

In the video from the National Rifle Association, Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre offered a simple solution to the elites: “We don’t need you.” And he added, “We are the NRA, and we are Freedom’s Safest Place.”

The unveiling came a day after the FBI decided against filing a criminal indictment against Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton despite her mishandling of classified emails during her time as secretary of State.

LaPierre never mentions guns. Instead, his focus is on pushing back on the Washington “elites” who want to change daily life in the nation.

“America was founded to escape the elites, but today they run our country,” he said, shaking his head.

“There is no longer any difference between our politicians and the elite media who report on them, and the Hollywood elites who bankroll them both. They work together in some newsrooms and boardrooms and Washington backrooms and star-studded champagne fundraisers to decide for the rest of us what’s news and what’s not, what’s true and what’s not, who gets protected, who goes to prison, who gets our money and who gets our vote,” said LaPierre.

“These elites threaten our very survival, to them we say we don’t trust you, we don’t fear you and we don’t need you,” he added.
