Race card: DNC says Trump backed by ‘white supremacists’

Pick your poison GOP” is how the Democratic National Committee is welcoming the results of the New Hampshire Republican Primary which gave a big shot in the arms of front runner Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

In an email, the DNC called the election a “disaster for the GOP,” and said that the “coronation” of Trump was backed by “white supremacists,” a heightened level of attack as the election enters two states with big minority groups, Nevada and South Carolina.

From the DNC:

Last night was a disaster for the Republican Party, and it wasn’t an accident.

For years, the Republican Party failed to stand up to the most extreme voices within their party, and instead promoted divisive dog-whistle attacks designed to drive us apart. We saw the result on stage last night with the coronation of Donald Trump.

Put best by the Huffington Post last night, a “xenophobic demagogue who’s insulted pretty much everyone and even earned the endorsement of white supremacists” won the New Hampshire primary by a mile, getting almost as many votes as the next three candidates combined. He has a commanding lead in the national polls, as well as in the early states of South Carolina and Nevada.

It was also a solid night for Ted Cruz, who finished third after spending only $580,000 in the state, giving him momentum going into South Carolina. The Cruz campaign is already making investments in uber-conservative Super Tuesday states in the South, causing one Trump ally to remark that, “Cruz is actually running the perfect [expletive] campaign.”

And here’s a fun fact: no Republican in modern history has won the nomination without winning either Iowa or New Hampshire. And with Marco RubioBot malfunctioning under pressure, John Kasich’s underfunded campaign, and Jeb Bush planning a “scorched-earth” attack on both of them, it looks like it’s time for the GOP establishment to pick their poison and make a choice between Trump and Cruz.
