Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul has had it with all the tax dollars going to fund the bulk of NATO and the United Nations.
At a reception in the Senate Kennedy Caucus Room last week, he offered a change in how much the U.S. pays.
“I think we’re 22% of NATO [funding]. I’m kind of like the same as the U.N., we should make it proportional. So if there are 28 countries in NATO, we’re 1/28. If there are 140 in the U.N., or how ever many there are in the U.N., we’re 1/140, I’d be happy,” he said. …

After watching for years as former House Republican Speaker Paul Ryan broke fundraising records, McCarthy set a new House record of his own, hauling in $23 million in the first quarter.

- The famed bipartisan “Battleground Poll” is moving to Georgetown University, the latest big get by Mo Elleithee, founding executive director of the Institute of Politics and Public Service at Georgetown’s McCourt School of Public Policy. The poll, conducted by Democratic pollster Celinda Lake and Republican Ed Goeas, is among the most anticipated, especially moving into a presidential election year. Elleithee said Georgetown is adding a new component with a civility poll. …
