Obama approval tumbles to 39%

President Obama, kicked off much of the 2014 midterm election trail due to his unpopularity, has tumbled to a 39 percent approval rating, matching his lowest level ever.

Reuters/Ipsos reports that 53 percent of likely voters disapprove of the president’s job.

When broken down by party affiliations, the president is even having trouble hanging on to his 2012 reelection support of virtually all Democrats. Just 69 percent of Democrats approve of the president, while 28 disapprove.

Among Republicans, it’s 10 percent approve, 88 percent disapprove, and for independents, 22 percent approve of the president’s job, 70 percent disapprove.

Polling archives from the Roper Center show that Obama still hasn’t fallen as far as every president since John. F. Kennedy, whose lowest approval rating was 56 percent. For example, former President George W. Bush bottomed out at a 19 percent approval rating, and Richard Nixon touched 23 percent.
