A Democratic group created to stop Donald Trump is circulating a report to members of the Electoral College that suggests Russian President Vladimir Putin helped the Republican win because of the close business ties between the two, even over vodka.
The report from the Democratic Coalition, an arm of Keep America Great PAC, an anti-Trump group, has already been provided to President Obama and Democratic leaders. It suggests questionable ties between Putin and Trump and was done after the FBI probed Russian influence in the election.
“The Electoral College should have every ounce of research on President-elect Trump available to them so that they may make an informed decision,” said Scott Dworkin, author of the report and senior advisor to the coalition. “This will be one of several reports on Trump we send to the Electoral College before they vote,” he said.
Hyped as a 40-page investigation, the report is simply a collection of stories and news clips detailing some of Trump’s business dealings in Russia.
One covers, for example, covers Trump vodka, sold in Russia. How thin is the evidence? The group suggests something sinister in the use by Trump’s marketing program of the use of a photo of Vladimir Lenin that appears identical to a Lenin statue.
Says the report, “This evidence further calls into question the recent conclusion made by the FBI, which stated that there was no clear connection between President-elect Trump and Russia to be found.”
