Barbara Bush: Jeb ‘is brilliant’

Former First Lady Barbara Bush is pledging to stay uncharacteristically quiet during the upcoming presidential election — unless somebody attacks her son, Jeb.

In an interview with her granddaughter Jenna Bush Hagar for NBC’s “Today” show, she said, “I’ve promised that during this next campaign season, I will not talk.”

Celebrating her 90th birthday at the family summer home in Kennebunkport, Maine, she added, “I’m going to stop voicing my opinion and sticking up for things I think are right — except my boy. I think he’s brilliant.”

Bush, who once said that the nation has “had enough Bushes” in the White House, said she welcomes the title “The Enforcer” when it comes to her family.

“I enforce. If you do something bad, I point it out to you,” she told her granddaughter.

Leading up to her birthday, Bush helped raise $7 million to promote literacy, her long-time pet project.
