Buzz: Marjorie Taylor Greene a star at Trump rallies, Rep. Chip Roy hits USAF ‘wokeness’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the combative Georgia Republican, has become a regular on the Trump train, part of the former president’s parade of speakers at his growing number of political rallies.

She’s been invited to join President Donald Trump in Arizona this weekend. And last weekend, she spoke before him in Michigan.

Greene’s popularity is so high among Trump supporters that she was asked to sign copies of the former president’s photo book and sold 250.

  • The “woke wars” seeping into the military are drawing heat from congressional Republicans. Texas Rep. Chip Roy, for example, wants an explanation for mixed-sex restrooms, locker rooms, and showers planned at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland’s new Special Warfare Training Wing. “While I understand that those who fight together must train together, this development appears to be more about advancing a radical political agenda that seeks to eliminate all distinctions between the sexes rather than the safety and well-being of airmen,” Roy wrote to Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall.
  • Former Obama photographer Pete Souza is out with another picture book, this one a behind-the-scenes look at the East Wing, the security and transportation staff that make the White House hum. While his earlier Obama: An Intimate Portrait focused on the former president, The West Wing and Beyond: What I Saw Inside the Presidency includes photos of valets, cooks, Secret Service agents, and military staff. “I hope the photographs in this book show you what happens inside the presidential bubble in the same way Obama: An Intimate Portrait gave a more personal perspective on one of the most photographed people in history,” he wrote.
