The nation’s chief virus doctor, Anthony Fauci, embroiled in a new controversy for his support of a Chinese lab that initially worked on coronaviruses, is facing a new call for his handling of the crisis to be investigated.
Outspoken new House Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Fauci critic who has worn a black mask with the words “Fire Fauci” stitched in white, demanded Friday that President Joe Biden to open the investigation and fire the doctor.
The call comes after the release of Fauci’s emails detailing his view and knowledge of the COVID-19 virus, a controversy he has brushed aside as misunderstandings.
“We remain convinced that Dr. Fauci misled the American public regarding the origins, transmission, and mortality of the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only his private correspondence, but his ongoing contradictory advice on the use of masks, vaccines, and social distancing and isolation demonstrates either incompetence or deception,” she wrote in the letter shared with Secrets.

Fauci, the director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, played a central role in the pandemic crisis dating back to January 2020 and as a member of former President Donald Trump’s coronavirus task force.
A recent release of 3,200 pages of emails shows that he sometimes took one position in private and another in public, such as on the effectiveness of masks and his organization’s support for the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Each time Dr. @RandPaul pushed Dr. Fauci to give us the truth about COVID and its origins, the liberal media attacked him, but in the end our junior senator is proved right to have been concerned. Not just once, or twice. Every. Single. Time. #KYSen https://t.co/dO2sch3hqB

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul has cited the emails in demanding that Fauci, the nation’s top salaried public servant, be fired for hiding his support for the lab, where many believe the virus came from.
Fauci has said that claims he supported the Wuhan lab based on an email released in the tranche are wrong. He told CNN that he continues to believe that the virus came from an animal, not a lab. He said, “You can misconstrue it however you want — that email was from a person to me saying ‘thank you’ for whatever it is he thought I said, and I said that I think the most likely origin is a jumping of species. I still do think it is, at the same time as I’m keeping an open mind that it might be a lab leak.”
Biden has opened an inquiry into the origins of the virus.
Greene’s letter asks that the Department of Health and Human Services provide answers about “the funding, origin, and activities at the Wuhan Institute of Virology” and if the Biden administration considers COVID-19 to be a “bioweapon.”
She added, “Almost 600,000 Americans have died because of this Chinese-made virus. It is past time the American people began receiving answers from their government instead of propaganda, mandates, and restrictions.”
Below is the letter from Greene to Biden. It was updated Monday to fix a mistake in the date she wants answers returned.
