Deep background: No Kushner-Miller war, 99% of Trump supporters want wall, Alyssa Milano all in for Biden

The headlines have been harsh, predicting a “clash” over immigration policy between senior Trump advisers Jared Kushner and Stephen Miller.

But like much of the coverage of the White House, said insiders, it’s fake news. Allies of both said the two are working on parallel tracks, with Miller focused on the current border crisis and getting agencies behind the president’s tough anti-illegal immigration plan, and Kushner mapping out a legal immigration reform proposal that might win bipartisan support, his specialty.

“There’s no feud,” said one insider.

And outside immigration groups advising the White House concur. “The battle between Miller and Kushner is overblown,” said one. Another: “This is really not a Stephen-Jared conflict.”

  • President George H.W. Bush opened the door to greater CIA deception tactics after he was tricked by the agency’s chief of disguise. Jonna Mendez revealed to a Liberty University audience that she fooled Bush while wearing a mask meant to show him the effectiveness of deception. “It changed the way we were able to work,” she said.
  • Actress and #MeToo activist Alyssa Milano is broadening her support for poll-leading Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden. Milano, who dismissed reports from women that Biden was too handsy, is now on his fundraising team. This week, for example, she cheered Biden’s support for an Equal Rights Amendment. “Joe and I are working hard to make sure this issue stays front and center,” she said.
  • Here’s a remarkable number: 99% of Trump voters want the wall built, much higher than the general population. But a new poll finds that it isn’t to punish illegal immigrants from crossing. Instead, they want the wall to stop drugs and human trafficking, said the survey by The Frontier Lab’s “Ear to the Ground Listening Project” and Citizens for Self-Governance.
