Brace yourself: Sunday’s 42nd anniversary of Earth Day is likely to bring screams of “The End is Near” from the media if the past 25 years of coverage is an example.
The proof comes from the conservative Media Research Center, Secrets’ partner in the Mainstream Media Scream of the Week feature, that has documented the 25 most outrageous media claims about man-made dangers to Mother Earth.
Just consider No. 1 and No. 2. In second place is CNN founder Ted Turner’s claim that “most of the people will have died, and the rest of us will be cannibals” because of global warming. In first place, a Newsweek story that suggested, “if everyone on Earth just stopped breathing for an hour, the greenhouse effect would no longer be a problem.”
