3 polls validate confidence in Trump

A third poll in a row shows that many Americans, especially the middle class, Republicans and whites, believe that President-elect Trump will restore the nation and their finances, the latest showing a massive 20-point jump in the “Thriving Index” among GOP voters since President Obama’s 2012 election.

According to Gallup, 60 percent of Republicans classify themselves as “thriving,” up from 56 percent right before the election and 40 percent after Obama’s reelection.

In a new Marist poll, white voters registered a 100 percent boost in their feeling of future financial success and a third survey found a huge surge in Americans who believe that they are now in the middle class.

Not surprisingly, however, those who don’t like Trump have a different feeling.

Take the gay community. Gallup found the “thriving” index down among LGBT, from 51 percent before the election to 41 percent today.

And Democrats overall have a hangover. Their “thriving” index dropped from 59 percent before the election, which the media predicted Hillary Rodham Clinton would win, to 50 percent.

The Gallup bottom line:

“Declining life evaluations among those in the losing party after a presidential election are not without precedent. After Obama’s 2012 election, a win for Democrats, Gallup data showed that the percentage of Republicans classified as thriving had dropped from 47% in October to 40% in December. Democrats, on the other hand, increased from 54% to 57%. After Obama’s first election in 2008, life evaluations among racial and ethnic minorities improved — particularly among black Americans — though this was not true after his 2012 win.”
