Americans are more and more divided over socialism and it is prompting some nasty political fights.
The latest Pew Research Center analysis showed the division: Democrats like it and Republicans don’t.
According to Pew, 65% of Democrats have a positive view of socialism, compared to 55% with a similar view of capitalism.
Among Republicans, it’s 15% on socialism to 78% for capitalism.
The issue took center stage in January when President Trump declared war on socialism in his State of the Union Address.
Since then, candidates on both sides have fought over programs that look like socialism. Democrats have won applause for their support for free healthcare and education.

Republican opposition has won cheers too, but some have been pelted with criticism.
Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst, for example, adopted Trump’s opposition when she announced her reelection bid and was immediately attacked by the Left.
“Our freedoms are quite literally under attack because the radical left will stop at nothing until socialism has spread from coast to coast. And because folks we all know that there is a better way. And that is why I am so proud to announce to all of you today my campaign to return to the United States Senate,” she announced.
Then the attacks came. Esquire mocked her and other media also took shots.
Ernst tweeted, “It looks like the socialist left didn’t like my kickoff speech. Well, to be blunt -ending private health insurance, taxing working Americans to pay those ‘unwilling to work-that’s socialism. We’ve seen what it leads to in Venezuela, and I will do everything I can to stop it here.”
