Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump said that he is under constant IRS audit attacks because he’s a “strong Christian.”
In a post-debate interview Thursday night with CNN, the candidate said said that like other religious groups claiming the tax agency is persecuting them, he is being audited because of his religious beliefs.
Trump: The one problem that I have is I’m always audited by the IRS, which I think is very unfair. I don’t know of maybe because of religion, maybe because of something else, maybe because I’m doing this, although this is just recently.
CNN: What do you mean religion?
Trump: Well, maybe because of the fact that I’m a strong Christian, and I feel strongly about it, maybe there’s a bias.
CNN: Do you think you get audited for being a strong Christian?
Trump: Well, you’ve seen what’s happened, I mean you’ve had many religious groups complaining about it, they’ve been complaining about that for a long time.
