Arms industry on edge, urges election eve gun purchases

With Election Day nearing, the 162-store Gander Mountain chain has launched a huge “Election Sale” on firearms, promoting the industry’s bid to keep Hillary Rodham Clinton and other anti-gun Democrats from office.

In a Sunday advertising flier, Gander features AR-style rifles and semi-automatic pistols beside the industry’s #GUNVOTE logo developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

“Election Sale,” headlines the flier. “FIREARMS AMMUNITION & ACCESSORIES,” it offers. Gander has stores in 27 states.

Over a photo of a Ruger rifle, the advertiser reads: “EXERCISE YOUR RIGHTS.”

The #GUNVOTE campaign has the backing of several major gun makers, whose products are featured by Gander for as much as $100 off.

The National Rifle Association, NSSF and several industry leaders have warned voters that candidates like Clinton want to ban guns. NSSF has highlighted Clinton’s support for an Australian-style gun ban.
