Liberal Media Scream: CNN analyst declares supporting Trump ‘makes you racist’

This week’s Liberal Media Scream features a show that regularly beats up President Trump, “CNN Tonight” with Don Lemon. This time it was one of his guests who lashed out not only at Trump but also his supporters, especially women, calling them racists.

At the top of a Friday night discussion about why many white women support Trump, CNN political analyst Kirsten Powers declared their preference for Trump over former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton means, de facto, they are “racist.”

Noting how women will say they “just voted” for Trump because they didn’t like Clinton, Powers said, “[T]hat doesn’t make you not racist. It actually makes you racist. If you support somebody who does racist things, that makes you racist. So I just want to establish that.”

Powers on the Friday “CNN Tonight” with Don Lemon:

People will say that they support him for reasons other than his racist language, which we don’t have time to go through, but there’s all sorts of things, starting from the launch of his campaign all the way up until the latest campaign, the way he demonized people trying to come to our country on the caravan. And they’ll say, ‘Well, I’m not racist. I just voted for him because, you know, I didn’t like Hillary Clinton.’ And I just want to say that’s not — that doesn’t make you not racist. It actually makes you racist. If you support somebody who does racist things, that makes you racist. So I just want to establish that.

Media Research Center Vice President of Research Brent Baker explains our weekly pick: “How arrogant. Powers makes herself judge and jury on whether Trump is a racist, then declares anyone who supports him is therefore racist and thus lacks any credibility to not favor the Democratic candidate. I’m sure her moral preening pleased Lemon and the smug staff of CNN who are so sure they are better than anyone who voted for Trump.”

Rating: Five out of five screams.
