The producers of a docudrama about the Hunter Biden scandals claim that their film has been banned in the Capitol for political reasons.
Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney, the producers of My Son Hunter, told Secrets that Rep. Lauren Boebert’s (R-CO) request that their film be shown in the Capitol Visitor Center was rejected by the Architect of the Capitol’s office to block embarrassing the White House.

“The Hunter Biden story is one of the most censored and suppressed stories of the past decade, and it seems the pattern is continuing despite constant emerging evidence showing that the movie My Son Hunter is much more a documentary than it is a drama. People need to see this movie because they deserve the truth after it was withheld for so long,” said McElhinney.
McAleer and McElhinney have produced several documentaries and docudramas on key issues including abortion, fracking, and the environment. In My Son Hunter, they dramatize the financial troubles and scandals of the first son.
My Son Hunter stars Laurence Fox, John James, and Gina Carano and was written by Brian Godawa and directed by Robert Davi. It is distributed online by Breitbart News.
Boebert’s hope was to bring staff and members into a central location to view the movie on Hunter Biden, who several House committees are investigating.
In emails provided to Secrets, Boebert’s initial request was rejected in early April by Michelle Went, the special events manager of the architect’s office. She cited several rules for screening films and said My Son Hunter’s showing would violate some.
“Unfortunately, this event appears to be in violation of the CVC’s Room Rules and Regulations,” she emailed. Specifically, she said that full-length films generally aren’t supposed to be shown, that any film must be tied to a congressional project or topic, and they should be political.
Boebert’s office and the producers, in an appeal, cited other films shown that appeared to violate the rules.
But the appeal was rejected. Went, who was unavailable for comment, suggested Boebert try to use offices controlled by the speaker instead of the visitor center.
Rules for rooms used by members can be more flexible, she suggested.
McAleer said the episode revealed a bias against conservative movies when enforcing the rules.
The Architect of the Capitol is a presidential appointee, and Biden recently fired former President Donald Trump’s choice after he got caught up in a spending scandal.
“This is another example of the establishment picking and choosing when to apply their own rules,” said McAleer. “The CVC has shown huge flexibility in screening movies that have a liberal storyline.”
The Hunter Biden story, covered well in conservative media, was mocked and ignored by liberal outlets especially leading up to the presidential election. The Biden campaign even orchestrated efforts to keep the story about the salacious contents in his computer out of the media. New reports suggest that he could face a grand jury indictment and that the Biden White House has been pushing the IRS and Justice Department to slow-walk their investigations.

The producers charged that the screening ban is part of that effort.
“My Son Hunter was one of the most talked about movies of 2022. The Hunter Biden story has been suppressed and censored, but it looks like he is finally facing an indictment — it really would be educational for congressmen and women and their staffs to watch this movie. The CVC is doing a great disservice to those it is supposed to serve,” said McElhinney.
