Red State’s Erick Erickson, fresh from a sold-out convention in Atlanta, said that his decision to withdraw Donald Trump’s invitation to speak because of his “blood” comments directed at Fox News’ Megyn Kelly prompted a tiny but vocal group of pro-Trump harassers to shut down his social media and even force his family out of their hotel room.
“It’s the whirlwind of hate right now,” he blogged on his popular Red State website.
Donald Trump’s problem is not Megyn Kelly or me. It’s getting caught in the August doldrums. http://t.co/sjDFM3E4Mi

While just few at his convention that drew many GOP presidential candidates complained to him about his decision — a finding backed by the Examiner‘s Ryan Lovelace in this report — Erickson wrote that an angry flock took to Facebook and Twitter to blast him and jammed his email.
It’s unclear who they were since many had just formed accounts to attack Erickson. He wrote: “My twitter feed is unusable. It’s just angry people, many of them very recently created accounts of people following few others and with little to no followers.”
He even had to unplug his hotel room phone before finally evacuating.
“Yesterday, my wife and kids had to pack up and leave the hotel because the few angry people were very loud and vocal as my kids were present. The kids got upset and scared so were unable to see the gathering or go to last night’s party. The party itself was fine. Only two people told me they disagreed and they characterized it as ‘understanding but disappointed,'” he wrote.
Small crowds at @RedState today in Atlanta. People were very angry at EWErickson, a major sleaze and buffoon who has saved me time and money

Still, he believes he made the right decision.
“Would I do it again? Absolutely. Rescinding my invitation to Donald Trump was the right thing to do,” he wrote.
