Navy SEAL, Obama, Republican Gates praise Clinton in new video

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton is pushing back against Republicans who sneer at her record as secretary of State with a new video in which President Obama, former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, and a Navy SEAL praise her job as the nation’s top diplomat.

In the over five minute video, retired SEAL Lt. Eric Gardiner said, “As a former SEAL, as a veteran, I’m confident knowing that Hillary as commander-in-chief will have a sense for the gravity of her decisions at that level.”

The video also showed a clip from a 60 Minutes interview in which Obama praises his former secretary of State, a move that might offset reports that the president is urging Vice President Joe Biden to challenge Clinton.

“I think Hillary will go down as one of the finest secretary of States we’ve had,” Obama said.

The video is meant to highlight her record and includes voices like former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former CIA Director Leon Panetta and world leaders. One is Robert Gates, the Bush-era Defense Secretary kept on by Obama.

From the Clinton campaign:

From brokering a ceasefire in Gaza that stopped rockets from raining down on Israel, to twisting arms to build a crippling sanctions coalition that brought Iran to the negotiating table, to elevating the fight for equality for women and girls as well as the LGBT community around the world, Clinton’s work as Secretary of State not only makes her uniquely prepared to serve as our next commander-in-chief, but sheds light on the kind of leadership she would bring to the Oval Office.
