The “revenge” killings of two New York City police Saturday have led a top critic of the Obama administration to question if Attorney General Eric Holder’s “reckless broadsides” against police played a role.
Top-rated conservative talk show host Mark Levin posted a note on his popular Facebook page following news that two NYC police were killed allegedly in response to recent deaths by police:
“Tell me, Mr. Holder, do you think your irresponsible and even reckless broadsides against local law enforcement, and those of the president, have contributed in any way to a growing hate for and endangerment of our police officers?” In just nine hours, it was greeted with over 6,000 “likes.”
He also slapped President Obama for golfing after the shootings. “Our shameless president,” he wrote on Facebook.
Holder has criticized the police in Ferguson, Mo., New York, and Cleveland, Ohio, for their involvement in shootings, notably the killing in Ferguson of Michael Brown and chokehold death in New York of Eric Garner. Grand juries declined to indict police in the Brown and Garner cases.
Saturday’s alleged shooter, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, 28, who took his own life, wrote of his plan on his Instagram page. “I’m Putting Wings on Pigs Today,” a person believed to be the gunman wrote. “They Take 1 Of Ours . . . Let’s Take 2 of Theirs,” the post continued, ending with, “This May Be My Final Post.”
Both President Obama and Holder condemned the Saturday shootings in statements.
