Top Dem pollster warns Hillary to pick ‘white male’ VP

Hillary Rodham Clinton should reject pressure to pick a woman, Hispanic or black as her running mate and choose a white guy, a top Democratic pollster urged Tuesday.

Long-time political analyst Peter Hart told a convention of the National Association of Realtors that a minority heavy ticket headed by a woman is not a winner.

“I don’t think she can pick a woman and I don’t think she can pick an Hispanic because I think it would be very hard to have a woman and a minority, I should say Hispanic or an African American,” said Hart.

Instead, he said, she needs a “white male on the ticket.”

He said that Clinton has two paths in considering a veep.

“Look at somebody who is either going to help her with the left, which I think means a Sherrod Brown out of Ohio, the senator, or somebody who will help her again in a purple state, be more moderate, such as a Tim Kaine,” the Virginia senator, he said.

Hart appeared with Republican Pollster Bill McInturff.

McInturff said that Trump should stick with his outsider theme and pick a military officer as vice president. That, he said, would help settle questions voters have about Trump’s foreign policy and national security plans.
