‘God bless you’: Ivanka Trump detours to cheer troops in Qatar

Ivanka Trump, traveling in the Middle East to promote her women’s economic empowerment initiative, made a pit stop at a joint air base in Doha, Qatar, over the weekend to meet with troops and wish them a merry Christmas.

“It was an honor to visit Al-Udeid Air Base, the largest U.S. military installation in the Middle East, to thank the brave men and women who keep America safe,” she wrote on social media.

“Aim High, Fly-Fight-Win! God bless you and Merry Christmas!” she added.

Trump, one of her father’s top advisers, was attending the Doha Forum and promoted her efforts to break down economic barriers to women in several Middle Eastern nations via the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative. She attended the forum with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.

But she also made a point to meet with U.S. troops at the base that houses U.S., Qatari, and Royal air forces that are part of the Gulf War Coalition.

She was accompanied at the base by Brian Hook, U.S. special representative for Iran and the senior policy adviser to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

An official said that Trump met with U.S. troops and Qatari female pilots at the base. Commanders of the facility also gave her a tour.

On Instagram and Twitter, Trump posted several pictures, including one in front of a U.S. fighter jet.
