Buzz: Jill Biden’s contradictory message, Trump still president, and Pompeo’s next step

First lady Jill Biden has finally hit the campaign trail ahead of next month’s election.

In a Tennessee stop last week, she preached unity at a fundraiser. “Governing isn’t a game. There’s no us versus them. No teams to root for or against,” Biden said. She even talked about winning over some Republicans to help with her husband’s agenda. “Just imagine what he could do with a few more partners,” she said.

But then, her politics took over, and she asked for donations to her side, dismissing her earlier message. “I know you’ve donated, but if you could help with just a little bit more. Because politics isn’t a game. There are no spectators. We, all of us, all of you, are powerful. Together, we will win this November,” she said.

  • Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who is campaigning around the country for Republicans, is starting to promote his new book. Never Give An Inch is due out in January, but his team at Broadside Books is already talking it up.
