The Washington bureau for Bloomberg News must know something, because it’s deputy managing editor, Kevin Whitelaw, is now heading a Trump investigations desk. On Facebook, he wrote, “Exciting changes for me at Bloomberg with a new gig as deputy managing editor for U.S. government coverage with responsibility for coordinating coverage of investigations into Trump. This won’t be dull.” This from Bloomberg’s release in Talking Biz News: “Kevin Whitelaw will become Deputy Managing Editor, reporting to Managing Editor Mike Shepard. Kevin has impressed all with his energetic approach to running our Congress reporting. Now he will assist Mike in running the day, driving coverage and elevating stories across the newsroom. Kevin also will lead our team’s Trump investigative efforts by working with reporters across the company to maintain our sharp focus on this story.” …

Alexandria-based Craig Shirley has already established himself as former President Ronald Reagan’s biographer with four books, but the Gipper is still giving him more to write about. His next is on the ‘84 campaign titled, “Morning in America.” And he tells us he’s writing another three: One on Mary Ball Washington, tentatively titled “America’s First, First Lady,” another on former President Harry Truman’s Pentagon corruption probe titled, “The Truman Commission,” and finally a biography of former President James Monroe.
