The first battle among the 20-plus planning to run for the 2020 Democratic primary has begun with candidates kicking off a hiring and fundraising blitz.
Candidates are expected to need $50 million to $100 million to get through the first series of primaries and caucuses, and their ability to rake in cash is already being tested by the handful of billionaires ready to self-fund their efforts.
And as importantly, the candidates are locked in a race to hire a core team of advisers, communicators, digital pros, and even “wonks.”
Those efforts are unveiling on job websites as candidates are welcoming any resume they can and promoting their candidacies on job search sites even including Daybook.
That site on Monday said that a number of candidates, including Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Kamala Harris, are hiring.
“The field of presidential candidates is quickly shaping up and candidates are looking to hire staff for their campaigns. Multiple presidential campaigns are already hiring,” Daybook said. It provided the listings for the three senators.
For Harris, it showed her generic call for resumes and her political bio.
Gillibrand included job openings in hers. It read:
