More American adults than ever before are using internet-based social media and they’ve made Facebook their favorite by a mile, according to a new analysis.
Some 69 percent use social media, a whopping eight-fold jump in 10 years. In 2006, just 8 percent used Facebook, Twitter, and other networking websites.
The Pew Research Center on Thursday also detailed an American explosion in the use of digital devices and the internet.

Pew said that a record 88 percent use the internet and for the first time, majorities are online, own a smartphone, use social media and possess a tablet.
While other social media pages are gaining, Facebook is king, with 68 percent of adults on it. And, Pew found, 76 percent use it daily.
Next is Instagram, at 28 percent followed closely by Pinterest, LinkedIn and Twitter.
